Liverpool Health Partners is a strategic partnership between twelve of the world’s leading education, health and research organisations, all based right here in the Liverpool City Region.
We have exclusive access to some of the best skills, resources, knowledge and expertise in the region, which means we can have a direct impact on people’s health. Our collaborative approach has the potential to equip each of our partner organisations with additional knowledge and skills to enable us to deliver greater degrees of improvements to patient health and patient care. We can all learn from each other and share our expertise and ideas.
And it doesn’t stop there… we are also working hard to further increase available resources by developing a wider network of leading healthcare, education and private companies across the globe.

“To truly improve patient care we must bring together those who can lead us in a culture of excellence in clinical care through research and education. These independent, yet mutually enhancing, themes will enable us to create health gain through the pursuit of excellence.”
Professor Sir Ian Gilmore, LHP Chairman
Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust has Europe’s biggest single-site maternity hospital in Europe. 20 babies are born there every day and a further three are born and cared for on the Neonatal Unit.
Did you know?
In 2012, a government report stated that the NHS and its public sector partners “need to work together to help one another achieve their objectives”. This is precisely what we aim for at LHP. We are able to enhance and improve the quality of the work that is carried out by our partners and this, ultimately, makes a difference to the care patients receive and the treatment options available to them. This is all thanks to our partners’ world-leading research and educational facilities.
We are incredibly lucky that the North West is rated as one of the top three biomedical clusters in the UK, based on a major pharmaceutical presence, rapidly expanding biotechnology community, many healthcare technology companies and a strong analytical and clinical supply presence. This means that LHP is ideally positioned to enhance and promote these local strengths to build a partnership that will make a real difference to the healthcare, research and innovation landscape.
